Sheet Metal Differences WWll vs Postwar

Post by Adam » Wed Nov 23, 2011 9:21 pm

Anybody have information on what changes were made to the sheetmetal and tool tray on the different units. May be picking up a WWll unit with no covers and another unit that may be Korea war era with full sheet metal.

I have both a 1943 PE-95G and a 1951 PE-95K, the covers are the same. The instrument panels are different and there are differences in the engine setup like the oil filter vs a later oil scraper . The end caps are a little different but I think they would all interchange, the rest looks the same other than the WW2 model has tool boxes and the later one doesn't

Hi rgus,

Does the PE95k already have a gear cam? I consider buying a K-generator for use of the engine in a CJ-3A but I am not sure as I am told told by The seller that the gen is from 1944...

Thx for your advise

Bodo

If you are talking about the dist/oil pump drive gear on the cam they are all the same as far as I know. If you are talking about the later timing gear change I dough it but cant say for sure.

The Gears on the Oil Pumps are not the same, Chain type has LH Pitch, Gear Type has RH Pitch. Wartime PE-95 had the MB Chain Drive engines installed, some 50's PE-95's can have later Gear Type Engines. The Front engine Plates on all PE-95 are set up same as MB/GPW CJ-2A and early CJ-3A. If your CH has the stagered Front Mounts, any PE-95 Engine you install will have to have the front plate changed.

The casting # is 641087-W-13-D-P5 which sounds like a later engine type to me.
