Willys M38 for sale
I have an unrestored Willys M38 for sale. I mean, I have done quite a bit of work on it, but it is basically an unmolested unit. It is licensed, titled (clear and unencumbered in NC). It has a homemade summer top AND the Artic top with doors, manuals, and miscellaneous parts. It runs and drives fine. You can crank up this Jeep and drive away (a little cold natured ). It stays in a heated garage. VERY little rust and MINOR body repairs.
I have discovered I have what could be serious health problems with my kidneys and, reluctantly, I must let "Willis" go. I attempted to sell it a year or so ago, but what I got was tire kickers, scammers, the usual Craigs list offers to "help" me sell it. The rest thought I ought to give it to them for a song. Somehow the general public still clings to the idea that Jeeps come on a crate for $50 and want it for free. You guys know these M38s are getting rarer and rarer and more difficult to find. The price is $7000 Neg. I have some "wiggle" room but I'm not going to give the Jeep away. Does it need minor work (leaks, seats, fidgety stuff)? Yes. Is it junk? Absolutely not! I take it almost every Friday night to a local car show in the summer. I have problems now, and I just can't deal with it anymore.
I will not accept checks, certified checks, other seemingly "good" instruments, nor Pay Pal. I prefer to meet personally with the buyer, go to my (or your) bank, receive payment, do the transaction before witnesses. You then can present the cash to ME. Hard? Not really. With all the scams going on with the electronic stuff, it has become a sad fact of life. I hate to sell it--I really do. But life changes--sometimes not for the better.
I will try to check here often. Will provide pics via email which I will provide privately on request, phone # and pictures. Bear with me as I am NOT a good photographer.

Re: Willys M38 for sale
Well, I must've scared everybody off! I'm not THAT hard to work with, just cautious! lol! This is a nice jeep. Everybody talks about body rust-thru and dents. This one is pristine, just not fully restored. Someone looking for a fine, solid M38 won't go wrong with this one. Its virgin, never restored. It is in operating condition, drives every week ('cept when its freezin' cold). I spent considerably in the early days getting the electricals back to original (she's 24V), painted USAF blue with Civil Air Patrol markings. Title is absolutely clear in North Carolina, and NC is one of the real bears to work with when it comes to getting titles. Four wheel drives works well, but has Warn hubs which is not standard. The artic top w/ doors goes with it. There's a windshield frame for that top that goes with the top & it has brand new glass and rubber in it. It has electric windshield wipers to replace those hateful vacuum wipers (I drove a school bus in high school & the things had vac wipers that I HATED with a passion! ) There are no major repairs to be done; mostly minor 'piddly' projects to make this one a really nice Jeep.
I have asked $7000 and I think its worth it. I'm not inflexible, just proceeding with caution. I had it for sale last year, but people thought they could get it for a song, or that Jeeps still came in crates for $50. I got mad at their silly offers and withdrew it. I'm not greedy and I need to sell due to age and health, but I'm not going to be taken advantage of. So make me a reasonable that makes sense and we'll talk it over!

No. I still have it. I just get busy and haven't had time to talk about it. I'm gone a lot, and I just can't deal with it. Since it didn't sell, I kinda gave up on the idea.

Still for sale. $6,000. If no one wants it, I will simply quit posting about it.

Re: Willys M38 for sale
FJ, don't give up. It's not a matter of not wanting her, it's a matter of us being wrapped up financially in current projects . For instance, I'm right below you in SC, would love an M38, and a blue one would be even better, as my Grandfather worked on these while stationed in North Africa during the early 50's. He and I were both in the Air Force. Hold onto it, and the day will come. It's a reminder that good jeeps are still out there...
