The Hood Blanket (Cover) is worth more than the rest of the kit.

What does the hood blanket go for? I have an original NOS.

Depends on condition, low as $100.00. Winter Front and clips are a plus.
I use mine to protect the finish on my hood during winter storage.

These Kits did not always store well in the Army crates, the control valves and SW fuel Pumps could give headaches. Start up could be exciting at times. Big problem now would be replacement parts.

Re: FS (NOS) in crate M38A1 Arctic Power Plant Heater Kit
It's been since the 60's-70's since the Depots disposed of these by the hundreds and more. The dealers that had them are mostly gone now and those kits did not sell well except for the winter fronts and hood blankets. Most valuable item was the 24 Volt Stewart Warner pulse type fuel pump that could be put to use on any 24 Volt Gas Job Army trucks. The SW Pump came in 6-12-24 Volts (Size of a soda can) and were usually stuck from 10+ years of storage at the time. They were high maintenance compared to the little use they got. I have a few NOS components left, Control Box, Power Cable, Battery box heating pads, etc., from one kit. I scrapped this kit just for the canvas covers back in the 60's. Got it either from Firestone Motors or Sarafans who are long gone.
Some surplus dealers were hoping that fishing boat owners would buy them, but insurance for gas fired components was a no no on commercial fishing boats. Hit up John Bizal, he might come across one in an old warehouse.

Just an update.
Installed the Arctic personnel heater on my M38 CDN.
Works like a hot darn! Very reliable.
