M38A1 Windshield

Post by bkalex » Mon Mar 05, 2018 12:30 pm

Just picked up a 53 M38A1. The windshield has 3 handles(?) on the top inside. One on the left side that sticks straight out. One in the middle that sticks straight out. One on the right that is bent downward. Made from round steel rod and welded to the windshield. Have only found one pic online with the same thing. Was curious if anyone knows what these are for?

Sounds like an M170 windshield. I was given one of these to replace the bent one on my a1 - cut them off before I investigated what they were.

I believe you're right. I didn't think of searching those. Thanks.

I bought 3 NOS boxed M-38A1 Windshields from Bud Werner, I sold two and by the time I got around opening the last one up for myself a year or so later, it was for the M-170. It has served me well for 43 years.
Bud went up to his bedroom to bring them down for me.
