Fuel cap gasket

Post by spiderman » Thu Aug 17, 2017 11:42 am

Has anyone else had a problem with the fuel cap gasket swelling up ?
I have bought a new cap from Kaiser Willys , and one gasket from Midwest ,
also tried cutting one out of a sheet of neoprene , all swell up like a sponge
from the gas . Am I doing something wrong , is it just the modern fuel with
ethanol in it , or can you recommend something different I could try ?
Thanks

Send back the defective gaskets - they may be NOS and aren't for ethanol containing gas. You might be able to do a search and find rubberized gasket material made for today's gas. I used cork/rubber sheeting gasket material from my local auto parts place. Has worked well so far.
