M38a1 body alignment

Post by Shug4 » Sat Aug 05, 2017 3:12 pm

I am asking all knowledgeable m38a1 owners out there. I bought a 1952 m38a1 with the hinges on the grill. I got another m38a1 body that was a 1954 or newer without the hinges. I put the body on the 52 frame. My understanding was all bodies fit all frames. When I tried to put my 52 grill on it the grill hinges was about 1/2 inch too long in front of the holes. I can't seem to be able to move the body back 1/2 inch to fit the holes on the front hinges. Does anyone know if the 52 fenders with the braces that bolt to the frame was shorter than the 54 or newer. Need help.

Hi have you undone the hinge pin brackets from the frame to see if they have any forward or backwards adjustment. I feel sure the tubs and fenders will be the same dimensions on all years Best regards Bernard.
