Note the crooked data plate, am sure this is not a factory installation.
Something else to ponder, the Responsible Agency Agent Plate on a USMC M-38A1 would read "Marine Corps" The Army Issued M-38A1 would read "Ordnance". Note that this USMC Jeep Dash Board Data Plate Set indicates "Ordnance", which is not Marine.
OEM Gauges for this period M-38A1 would all be AC.
And the brake and clutch pedals are reversed. :wink:
I get a kick out of the sales pitch done by professional antique car specialists, they have lots of embellishments that were not ever applicable. P.T Barnum had a vision. :wink:

Also a good many of the 52-54 era M-38A1 Jeeps had a factory applied plastic like undercoating under the bottom of fenders, body tub and sides.

I have 2 M38A1s that I have had for 40+ years and they both had the metal plate from the factory. Warren Duchesne
