M38A1 Headlight Dimmer

Howdy all,

The wire on my original headlight dimmer switch is frayed all the way down to the housing on my M38A1. Has anyone had any experience taking this little item apart? If so, advice is most welcome!

Thanks so much!

If only the insulation is shot and the wires are still fine you might could paint some liquid rubber wire sealant on the wires at the base of the switch. Then you can slip a heat shrink wire cover over the wires and then shrink it.

I did that to mine and it works great. Alan

When it gets that far the switch has had it's good life, it is a good idea to consider finding a NOS as these switches do have a habit of shorting internally or having low or high beam fail. It's no fun driving home in the dark.
