20 years ago Delks Army Navy had quite a few of these in the junk yard, also had some m606A3's , that's a rare 12/24v cj5 made for military use that everyone seems to over look these days, kinda of a cross breed of cj5 and m38a1, haven't seen one in person in years.

Hello,
These are pretty cool jeeps !
I never knew they had any .
They do look a lot more than just regular civilian jeeps.
Tow hooks on the front bumper, with the headlight brush guards.
The Military data plates on the dash.
One of these restored would be a unique restoration.
One member posted a oic of his jeep in Korea, and it had USA type numbers on the hood, unit markings on the front bumper.
I wonder if any have been restored ?
Warren, your data plates would be great for someone that needs them.
So now we know that the USMC, the USN, and the US Army all used these interesting jeeps.
Best Regards,
Ray

Re: 1974 CJ5 Military Jeep?
One item to mention, the military bought dozens of vehicles for "On Post" use at various installations. to be used for anything from fence mending, range and target maintenance teams, forestry, running down for Toilet Paper at the supply depot.
These were not TACTICAL vehicles as issued for unit TOE purposes, some did get modifications to be equipped with blackout drive lights and such as they wandered the training ranges and didn't need to blind night operation training events. That does not make them 'Combat' vehicles, they were TMP vehicles or special purpose for mission support assets.
Your not going to find pictures of them being dropped from aircraft or carrying wounded out of combat for example.
There were plenty of Seafoam green Ranger Pickup trucks when Ford created the little pickups back in the 80's for example. It was far cheaper to use/abuse/fuel those than wear out your units tactical trucks which were expected for wartime usage, not administrative duties.
Glad to see a former military support vehicle being saved, but it's more CIVY than Military. like a civilian car painted OD became a staff car...govt purchased it, so it got a Data plate, sometimes brush guards and blackout drive. 99% of it is the same as the civy model.
Just saying.
