Steering Wheel - What Color?

Post by USASA » Thu Dec 01, 2016 8:03 pm

I've been seeing several repro A1 steering wheels that are green.
Mine is black and I have no idea if it's original ('54).
Is there a single, correct color - or does it matter?

Original would be OD green. No it doesn't matter unless you are entering a judged contest.

Near the end of the M-38A1's career in the early 70s and due to some parts shortages, the Army authorized direct purchase from large Military Jeep Parts Suppliers such as Transportation Parts of NY who provided Black CJ part numbered steering wheels.
