Stuck clutch disc
Just finished a total resto on a 38A-1. Starts fine, runs great but when i went to put it in gear it was grinding like the clutch pedal was'nt pushed in, so i made the cable tighter but to no avail. I believe the clutch disc is stuck to the flywheel or pressure plate. I removed the floor plate and viewing port and can see that the fingers on the pressure plate are going in all the way but the clutch disc isn't releasing. Any ideas how to unstick it without removing the engine and tranny, I have had this happen to a couple of 151's but they are easy to unstick.

Re: Stuck clutch disc
Could also be the clutch pilot bushing. (rare) You can try this. Set the parking brake or get the bumper against a tree. Put it in third gear push in the clutch and hit the starter. You shouldn't have to do this on new work. Do not be surprised if the pilot bushing is too tight on the shaft and spins inside the flywheel.

Re: Stuck clutch disc
Check the clutch plate is in right way round.
The raised portion is toward the transmission NOT the flywheel.

The clutch disc isn't stuck, i can see its not turning when the pedal is pushed in so i think its gotta come out.

Re: Stuck clutch disc
We had an issue with "shipping clips" left installed. Once we popped them off the clutch worked as it should.
Might want to check before you tear it all down,

Some dumass put the disc in backwards.....duh...problem solved and fortunately no damage, thanx for the tip. The springs on the clutch disc were catching on the bolts that hold the flywheel.
