Filter bolt gasket / washer

Post by spiderman » Sun Sep 06, 2015 7:06 am

Can anyone tell me the size of the washer to seal the bolt that holds down the cover for the oil filter on 1955 m38a 1 ? Lid is marked as a Purolator , filter # ms 25345-1 . It seeps oil , and I'd like to have one in hand when I do next oil change . If someone had a part number , that would be great too . Thanks

Do a Site search here for Purolator Gasket, am sure you will not have to look too far as an NOS Purolator Gasket will surface. It is a common request and is not a hardware store item.

Ended up pulling it apart to change oil . For future reference , copper washer is 5/8 " I.D. Dorman part number is 095-154.1 . Worked like a charm!
