I am installing a new fuel gauge and pick-up unit on my M38A1. (The originals items were "customized" by Billy-bob.) On the pick-up unit, I have two line hook-ups. One is for the fuel line. The other is presumably a vent.
I see a reference to the vent in the manual, but I have not seen one, nor seen a replacement vent on-line. Is there a common work-around for the vent, or can anyone recommend a supplier for this vent? I could plug it, but I would prefer to find a vent.

Re: M38A1 fuel tank
Turn to Page 158 in your TM9-8014, note the funnel shaped Vent with the holes in the figures 69 and 70' the part number for this Vent should be in the SNL but is not. The Vent has something like horsehair in it. I used to get these in the motor pool using the Part Number for a similar Vent installed on the M-35 Gas Job REO 6X6 Fuel Pump. the Part Number is ORD #8332098, or AC-1521736.
I do not have any spares at present. These were standard fittings on the later M-38A1 Jeeps that did not leave the factory all vented up for fording.
I'll post a pic over the weekend. Keep asking, someone may have one.
