It is an early AMERICAN 'a1 by looking at the pictures he sent me. Serial # in the 16,000 range according to the wheelwell data plate - don't know if he has the dash data plates also, but they aren't installed on the dash. The grill is the hinged type. The fenders are late type, mot slanted seam - obviously military replacements. The battery box is the early wingnut type, although the wingnuts were broken off at some point (studs are still in the cowl). The body looks to be in very good condition and still has the holes for the antenna mount, jerry can and tire carrier. I didn't get a pic of the engine compartment or inside of the tub. I could tell it has a CJ gas tank and a replacement carb. Sorry, I didn't resize the pics, so here are the links to them.

I just noticed the custom spring lift on the front and shackles on the back (probably blocks also) using original springs, mini stinger front bumper and diamond plate that might be covering some rot.

Appears to be a summer of 1952 serial number. The 52's have other early features if you suspect the body not being from 52.

The MD M38A1. Would the serial number on the title start with MD? And the missile comment. Was it a missile or the Davey Crocket Missile? I thought those were basically all dismantled? Are they rare? I think I see a jeep with the MD starting in the serial with a diagonally fender?? Is that right??
