SHELL OIL CO. Engineer's quote regarding Shell Rotella T SAE 15W-40.
"The chemistry of the oil may not be compatible with the metallurgy of the engine components".
and the source for this unknown "Shell Engineer" or the report remains unknown.....
Go ahead and use NOS WWII oil in your vehicle if it makes you happy, I'll stick with modern proven lubricants, of which i find ZERO evidence other than barracks lawyer opinions that Shell Rotella has any issues.

Funny thing is Shell call these type folk 'Technical Advisors & Technical Support Specialists' not Engineers.
Shell letterhead or copy of e-mail communications needed before the statement is taken with other than a grain of salt.

There are more guys with old Jeeps in the US using Rotella than don't, from what has been posted on here over the years.
Only one G503 guy had problems & these were of his own making.
He achieved these by using Rotella in an old, tired L134 engine that was full of internal sludge.
It did a great job @ what it was supposed to do....cleaning the inside up!

Posts on this type topic specifically advise to never do so.

Understand how system parts interact with one another. GOOD parts can then be established & the NOT GOOD problem/s part/s isolated for repair or replacement.

I have a little experience working with petroleum products in the labs I supervised and contacting those in the industry was routine. Just giving an example that all should not taken be taken for granted when it comes to choosing oil.

Take a look at Joe Gibbs "HR Conventional" line of motor oils. It was recommended to me by my engine rebuilder.

I kinda lean toward oils that have the additives blended in by the refiner.

Nothing to hide, just quoting from long technical and hands on experience in the automotive field. G-member Frank Paciullo is very fluent in petroleum laboratories (Exxon) we needed no notes or references to talk shop.
The above comment was a Shell Lubrication Engineers' response to a problem with using Rotella T in certain engines a number of years ago. No sense quoting documents.
