The civilian guy in the back of the Jeep is using a VLC or "Vintage Laptop Computer", also known as a "Typewriter"..... :P

Can anyone identify the radio? Is it an SCR-193?

That looks like my jeep.

Image

The hood number on the one is only 21 from mine.

Mine was painted grey like those before it was surplussed in 1950... actually either of the first two could actually be my jeep.

The antennas are a little different as mine usd an MP-37 and those are MP-48A I think. The winged fastener radio boxes only held TCS radios, as far as I know.

Mark, the near radio cabinet is like ours; for the TCS set. The cabinet that the typewriter is sitting on is a CH-74-A. You can see the canvas rain shield folded back under the typewriter, and a corner of the FT-237-A mount inside of the cabinet. Also notice the MP-48-A mounted on the side of the same Jeep, just forward of the CH-74-A.

That's NOT a civilian. That's a U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer (CPO) - see the hat to his left on the generator(?) housing between the seats? The Chief is wearing the N-1 Foul Weather Jacket over his service dress blue uniform. He's most likely a Radioman (RM) or "Sparks."
