Looking at the dash, I would surmise that a serviceman named Wally Cohn put a car body on a Jeep frame and named it King. Pic's from 1946 so if his uniform could be id'd might figure out where he was stationed, looks like a German type body to me. 1 of a kind for sure.
Interesting symbol

Somewhere in Germany. Delivery truck advertising a Max Hertzmuller or something like it, German written on the brick wall in another photo. Curious, never heard of this before.

Anyone make out the letters 'WC' on the gear shifter and the 'Wally' on the dash? Strange!
In one picture it appears to have a one lever transfer case lever and in the one below that it appears to have a two lever TC shifter, it it looks as though the shifters are cut off or removed.

Uniform suggests CID, or CIC since he wears US insignia only with no rank, yet he has ribbons suggesting that he is not a civil service type.

Germany had many karossie (coachbuilder) shops that would take a chassis and running gear from one vehicle and put a another (sometimes even custom) body on it. Post WWII, many old Wehrmacht vehicles were rebodied or refurbished and put back on the road - I've seen pictures of similar bodies on Kubelwagen chassis.

Probably the most well known of these karossie is Karmann, famous for the Karmann Ghia bodies built for VW. They also built bodies for Porsche.

The US insignia on the lapels is in a triangle? He also appears to be weairng a ruptured duck in one of the pics. I'd say he's an ex-serviceman, now a civilian employee of some sort with the U.S. Occupation forces.

The Post WWII GI had lots of time on their hands and plenty of German craftsmen availible at their disposal who were employed as technicians.
