horrocks wrote:I am intrigued by the pale colour of the cans being unloaded from the C47. They could of course all be of Wehrmacht origin, but if so I should imagine some of them would be dark grey. I have a Brit (43) Jerrycan that I found in an old barn in Normandy years ago which is painted in a pale khaki colour tonally quite close to dunkelgelb. I suspect these are the same as mine.
Toby,
I have seen color pictures on the web of khaki colored (most likely) British cans in Britain. The links were on my old computer, so I never answered this post.
Thanks to Tibor/escort here a film link to other khaki colored British cans. The difference can be seen in the black and white films that also include darker olive drab cans.

Have you ever wondered how the dents got into your jerrycans?

2) http://www.criticalpast.com/video/65675 ... m-airplane" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And how the Army restored them. Remember before using the air pressure method, that the Army owned millions of cans, so if they did not survive this process it was no big deal to them.

Excellent, Roy, thanks.

I take it these are post war dumps? Even so, the aircraft gun 1:06 shows an early Nesco can??
Lots of British/German cans also
