This series of G-742 photos made the Movie Tone News in the theaters back in 1951 and introduced the truck as the "Reo Eager Beaver". Soon after in late 1952 they started showing ip in the military inventory around the country. I first noticed them at Dow Field across the street when the 506th SFW gat a couple Strata Blue M-108 2 1/2 Ton 6X6 Crane Trucks. in early 1953.

I've mentioned this before here on the forum.
One of the funniest memories of early 50's Dow Field was this new Strata Blue M-108 REO Wrecker Crane with its engine just a' screaming driven by an Airman 3rd towing a small 1 Ton Fork Lift on a 50' Chain out thru the Main Gate to the Civilian Truck Shop down the road about a half mile. It sound like it was on the governor in 1st Gear Low Range. That M-108's engine sure got a quick break in.
I had a ringside seat from about 50' looking thru our restaurant's window at the sight.

I believe this ia the introduction to the public of the Army's newest 6X6 the "REO EAGER BEAVER: 2-1/2 Ton 6X6 Cargo Truck. It was featured on "Movie Tone News" at movie theaters all over the country around 1952. Television was not that widespread back then.
