Most accurate M38 Top Canvas

Post by dpcd67 » Sat Oct 07, 2017 1:09 pm

I note differences among some of the M38 canvas top makers with regard to the back window. I think I see more rounded corners, and square corners. Might be the pictures or just me.
Anyway, which is right?

Square is correct also. There were several suppliers of M-38 Tops during the M-38 Period. Fasteners, buckles, straps and trim varied. Once the Jeep required new canvas it was "mix and match."
The original Canvas issued with the M-38 had many fastener, trim and window features of the late 40's 50's CJ-3A factory Canvas. Willys evidently had only one OEM supplier.

Ok, good; thanks I knew you would know. And no wonder different canvas vendors make different shaped back windows; and they are all copying period correct original tops.

Some late replacement M-38 Canvas had non folding door frames with a reddish binding, same for side curtains. All used original Ordnance numbers. There must have been some leeway to Window and trim configuration. Nothing fits like original, though.
