M38 Light Bucket Question

Are M38 and M38A1 headlight buckets interchangeable? If not, how can you tell the difference? A1 buckets fit in an M38 grill.

Buckets and doors are same Part Numbers, the pigtails changed from Douglas to Packard after late 1955 on the G-758.
