From the 1930s all the way into the 1960s for the DJs, if I remember correctly--which I will not swear to... :?
Is it true real Jeeps have flat fenders?

What 48 said. It was the late 30's.
In 1945 the engine went from a chain drive cam to a gear driven cam. The rest stayed pretty much the same.
In the early 50's, the F-134 came out. It was a metamorph of the flat head, gear drive, L-134. The exhaust valves were still in the block like the flat head but the intake valves were in the head like an overhead valve engine and had a valve cover and rocker arms.
