Air Filter

Post by Cannon Cocker » Fri Jun 30, 2017 12:09 pm

I'm attempting to disassemble the air filter. The air filter unit is removed from the M38. After removing the base plate, I've turned the wing nut(rod) that runs through the filter element until it starts clicking or popping but no more. Must be a secret to disassembling the internals. Please advise. Thanks in advance. Bill

It's clicking because the threads have disengaged from the nut - just pull the element out. Refer to pg. 61 of ORD 9 SNL G-740, Parts Manual for the M38 - it will show an exploded view of the filter. If your element is gunked up with debris, it might take a good tug. The manual can be found over at www.willysmjeeps.com in the "Downloads" section.
