Original was 2430 which is no longer made, but 23070 is the replacement, and is what I am painting my 51 M38. Now, later they were painted 24087 which is why most of them you see might be that color. Places on my M38 which were protected are very close to 23070; green. 24087 is more brown.
23070 is basically the semi gloss version of WW2, flat, 33070. I just got a case of 4 gallons of it. Gillespie, only, and thin with Xylene. Get some spray cans too for touch up.

Here; my two M37s show the difference; the front one is a 53, painted 23070, and the rear one is a 63, painted 24087.Image

M-38, M-38A1, M-37 and the M-Series REO (M-35) all left the factory thru mid 60's in 2430 O.D..

Midwest Military/TM9 Paint Products manufactures the original shade 2430 and has it in stock in both
enamel and a 2 part Urethane.
