My 51 M38 Hood/Grill welting rivets are pop rivets. Put there a long time ago as all the fabric is rotted away. Are these original?
I see that the SNL calls for Rivet, Split.

WW2 vehicles used this type of rivet. I think this is what the manual refers to?

Yes, I have installed many sets of it on WW2 Jeeps and Dodges, and CJs. This M38 I have used Pop Rivets instead of the usual split rivets. My question is, is this original for an M38?
Your picture shows no rivets.

pop rivets are not correct. M38 uses split rivets like those pictured. That are available from most vendors in kits with the webbing.

Re: Hood Welting Rivets
I have a new welting kit with split rivets. And I have a tool to install them. I guess sometime in the distant past someone put pop rivets in it. I read somewhere that 151s used pop rivets so it might be a motor pool installation.
