24v Spark Plug Question
I have a 24 volt 1950 M38. Waterproof plugs are $15 each and wires are close to $200. Can I use regular 12v plugs and wires from Auto Zone? If so, do I get CJ 3? I appreciate any info.

Re: 24v Spark Plug Question
You can use commercial plugs if you use a CJ distributor but I don't believe they make a 24 volt commercial type coil. You might be able to put a resistor in the circuit and use a CJ 12v coil with the 24 volt system.

Not sure how you would attach the civvy plug wires to the 24 volt cap.
Shop around. I've seen both for less. Don't feel bad, the A1 plugs are even more
expensive.
That said, there is a list somewhere.... not all military vehicles were waterproof.
You may be able to find suitable plugs that aren't waterproof.

Re: 24v Spark Plug Question
cj3a plugs are fine. Champion J8's or similar. I have never used civilian plug wires on my m38 but they may work. The problem end would be the dist. cap, and getting a proper contact. It seems plausible.
I have used civilian plugs with the waterproof cables temporarily by connecting the cable spring end to threaded top of the plug just to move the jeep around when restoring it but would not recommend it for daily use for obvious reasons.
