Ok, driving down I74 on the way to take my disassembled M38 for sand blasting and priming. I had set the steering wheel on in order to guide the rolling frame onto the trailer. About half way there, I looked back and noticed; NO steering wheel; SOB, I forgot to remove it, and it is now somewhere still rolling down the interstate. And I told myself to remember and remove it before taking off.
First mistake I ever made on a restoration. Today.
Now I have to buy a new one.

Sounds like something I would do. Sorry to hear it.
Is it true real Jeeps have flat fenders?

I never do stuff like this; I was down that way on I74 yesterday and I was looking in the ditch for it; didn't see it. Could be worse.

Bummer !!
Have you looked around the shop ?
I can be working on something and the phone will ring.
I will leave what I am working on with a tool in my hand and some place between point "A" and the phone I will mindlessly lay the tool down.
When I get back to the project, No Tool!! ^%#@^^(%* !!!
I can spend several minutes trying to find it.
And half the time, the phone call was B.S.

No, I definitely put it on the jeep so we could steer it onto the trailer, and it was just setting on the splines. I didn't remember about it until half way there; and I looked back; it was gone; the wind blew it off. It is in the ditch between here and Galesburg. This summer, a ditch mower will chew it up.
