Front propeller shaft yoke

Noticed a lot of slop in the front propeller shaft where the rear (sliding) yoke splines onto it. Think this may be causing some vibration I'm having. The yoke on the rear shaft has no such play. So removed the front shaft and took off the yoke. Couldn't see any obvious damage, but I hear these yokes do tend to wear, so I want to replace it. But I also seem to remember seeing something about two different propeller shaft diameters having been used. Mine is an early '51 and the front shaft measures 1.25" in diameter. I have a line on a yoke with P/N 8328499 (or wo-119707). Can anyone confirm whether this is the right one for my propeller shaft? Thanks for any help.

Best to take the shaft to a shop that specializes in Spicer repair parts, it will save you a lot of dead end trips, as they will I.D the slip yoke and supply you with the correct one, and also remove and install a new splined section if need be.

Thanks. Do you know whether the diameter of the propeller shafts, in fact, did change during production of the M38 or did they all have the 1.25" diameter version I have in mine? Thought I had read that somewhere, but might be wrong...

Where did you get the information that leads you to question the tubing diameter of the front propeller shaft?. 119707 is a front yoke that fits the M-38 front propeller shaft provided the front shaft has a blind spline.
