Oil Pressure Sending Unit Nipple Length?

Postby dfield » Mon May 24, 2010 1:02 pm

What is the length of the oil pressure sending unit nipple that comes out of the side of the block?
Looking for the following parts to finish my 1952 M38: fuel tank straps, front seat pans, battery cables, top bow rods, patch body panels for rear corners. NOS 0-60 psi oil pressure sending unit with Douglas connector. NOS head light dimmer switch.

Thanks Wes. Ace had a 3/4" and 1 1/2" but no 1". They also had 3" so I bought one of those and will cut and thread it.

It is not a nipple, It is a 1/4" X 1/8" Black Iron Street Elbow. I believe you will find it described in the SNL. If not just go to a plumbing supply store that has iron pipe fittings. 1/4" Female X 1/8" male to be exact.
(the Army taught me how to ID pipe fittings 50 years ago  )

It is a nipple and it is installed in the block and a 90 deg female 1/8"P to female 1/4"P reducer is then installed 0n the nipple.

This is what the ORD 9 SNL G-740 really says!

I'll be darned, and you can pick it up at the same place as the reducing elbow
1/8" Hex Nipple with a place for a wrench in the center..
