Turret Leak Fix

Post by GMVguy » Tue Apr 12, 2016 7:29 am

Well, to make my turret leak less, here are the steps in applying the recommended maintenance in the attached PS Magazine article (https://www.nsncenter.com/Library/PSMAG ... geNumber=7). I chose to use a 1/8" thick 4'x4' square of heavy duty rubber instead of the inner-tube. The hatch seals up nice and tight, and almost no water leaks in. Hope this helps!

Looks great - and helpful to see the pictures.

What paint and color did you use on the inside of the roof?

I had the roof & turret components sandblasted & powdercoated before installing. They had a pretty close match to Desert Tan. I'll be CARC'ing the exterior in 686A, but will leave the interior as-is.

That is a excellent job. What I did was installed weather stripping (G7011-T-50) all around the turret roof retainers.

This really stopped all my leaks. The only disadvantage is that it seals so good it makes the turret slight hard to rotate. I didn't care much for because I don't traverse it enough to worry about it. Im more concerned with leaks.
