Reciever hitch ? ?
Has anyone installed a receiver hitch on the back end that does not look too bad ? ?

George,
Your going to want to have that Aux tank installed before you wrap up your hitch because it sits on top of those reinforcements that connect to the rear-rear cross-member...

If you look at the LCA Bolt, you will notice that it is just on hand tight, because I want to tighten them after I have all the vehicle complete so they are tightened at their road ready at rest position so everything is OK. When I test fitted the "normal" hummer fuel tank, I was able to raise it into position with those hitch brackets in place. Is the Alpha Aux Tank wider than the Hummer as well as being taller?

George,
You must be installing it without the skid plate that the tank bolts to? How are you planning on securing the tank in place?

Skid plate is a must. The tank is on it and the front of the plate has holes for bolts and spacers to attach to the rear rear cross member. At the rear of the skid plate is where the brackets attach from below and after it is lifted up into place, bolts pass through vertically into the brackets that are already installed on the frame. The left one is shown in the picture showing the underside of the hitch setup.

I don't think I have ever been able to get the tank in or out with the supports in place. I will have a chance to try again as I am ripping out the rear suspension and cross-members to switch to the four piston brake setup. You are motivating me to try!dilvoy wrote:Skid plate is a must. Quick question about the outside bracket on the hitch, how did you mount it to the bumper bracket? The h1 guys are saying there are threaded holes in their bumper brackets but the hmmwv bracket just has one big hole on the bottom.

Did you use a over the counter receiver hitch, or did you build that one?

Got mine installed today also. Had to flip the outside brackets and drill holes in the hmmwv bumper brackets but I think it turned out good.

That 1994 one will probably fit better since the one pictured above is for a truck with the aux rear fuel tank...86humv wrote:Theres one available from Kascar and HPG......its listed in a 1994 parts manual.

Just surprised the parts are available. AMG is getting more and more NLA on civvie parts like the receiver hitch setup.
