Doors and Locks
Hey I have a question. I am currently looking at buying a Humvee and was wondering if its possible to put in door locks? Its going to be the off road beast of the house but if I drive it somewhere and park it I would like to lock it so no one screws with it. Any ideas on locks or modifications? PM me or email me at jibber_2289_@hotmail.com

You might want to post this in a different catagory, but yes go to kascar (http://www.real4wd.com/ ) and they have them (p/n 2670-AH) for $41.00 a bit high but for a $30,000 vehicle its well worth it. I bought a complete set, but you can get away with only buying two and in the rear door just disconnect the linkage to the handles to disable the rear door handles from outside and still can be opened from inside. This is only for a miltary vehicle.

In the almost 8 years of having my truck I hever had an issue with or without doors on it. If I feel I want a lil security I will lock the steering wheel or you can just take the screw off the ignition switch and take it with you. I dont normally carry much in the humvee when I'm in "non offroading mode" so there is nothing to steal.

I had a hidden ignition switch in mine. I took the Humvee to the nudie bar once upon a time with no doors on it. When I was leaving, the hood was raised up, the light switches were moved, and the start switch was in run. Luckily, all power was ran thru that switch, so not even the lights worked. All this was done on a fairly busy street in a small town. Some people just have no respect for other people's property.
I also thought about a permanent door stop strap or something like a wire rope to prevent the door from being stolen. If I was at the mall and some stupid ex military kid with a pickup knew he could get them off in a few seconds, I would like a bit more security. I would rather have my X-door hanging on the ground still attached than in the back of some guys pickup headed for ebay.
I like the Kascar handles. It is a simple design, but effective. The key just turns a piece of metal to get in the way of the handle, so it can't move. the inside handle of the rear hatch is the same design with a knob instead of a key.

Re: Doors and Locks
The $41 locks work fine except they don't work from the inside so if you need protection when driving through "bad areas", you need another solution.
