24 Alternator
Found an interesting prestolite alternator i am using for a conversion. Just enough power for high beams at 20+ amps and far lighter than the generator. It is sealed and uses no fan. was used by caterpillar and mining equip. Minor grinding of recesses in the fins to get tight fit for install. Was able to use a 32" V-belt which I think is 1" shorter than stnd.

Who made it?
How has the generator worked out for you?
Do you know the maker and model number?

I am 4 months from firing the engine to see if it works correctly.
It puts out 22 amps.

Re: 24 Alternator
The sealed alternator fit without any issues other than grinding the fins for a snugger fit, and welding one additional mounting tab to the mite generator bracket.
The diesel restomod took priority for past 3+ years and i have have not fired the V4 engine yet. I have gutted the AC Delco regulator box, and plan to run the charging wires through via stock connectors it for a stock look. Finding a pulley for the larger shaft was not easy. I shaved down a double pulley to work.
Here is another alternator that might fit easier, and has more output.

Re: 24 Alternator
How did you run the wiring from the single wire alternator to tie in with the existing wiring harness?

Re: 24 Alternator
Finally have fired the motor. The alternator works. It's a two wire setup. Modified a 38 or 151 generator cable to work. I added an aircraft dash light to feed the exciter with ignition +24v feed. I routed the exciter through a gutted AC delco regulator box.
Next time i would use a smaller case. Would need to remove fender liner and steering box/column to remove it.
