Converting a WW2 Jeep into an authentic Philippine Jeepney

Post by macaddict23 » Fri Apr 08, 2016 2:26 pm

I'm thinking of converting one of my project jeeps into an authentic Philippine Jeepney. The idea is to extend the tub maybe 2 feet back -- this would allow 6 passengers (three on each fender well) to sit comfortably and have room for lap belts.

The jeep is already titled to my name with a non-op status.

As a resident of the Great State of California, what are the legal issues of this conversion, if any? I'm Filipino, so it's a cultural thang. :-)

Thank you!
Dexter

Dexter
Here you go, a nice start to a Jeepney. It is also in California.

Why dont you just contact SARANO and buy an owner Jeep?
the philipinos destroyed enough Jeeps by making them into those Jeepneys
Dont wreck another

I get charged double when I ride on a Jeepney because of my "girth"
they are extremely racist/discriminatory

Please don’t.. They earn to rest their days in their original state.

I bet Dexter could find one on Manila craigslist and have it shipped home for cheaper than building one. I used to take one up to Subic City every couple of days.

Don't murder an innocent Jeep. Especially a VETERAN!

Please no. These things aren't growing on trees like they used to be.

My advice, convert a cj3 or something without a history

Just no!!! Not now; it is not 1950 any more. Not many left out there in the wild. Use a CJ.
