Mike Wright has shared his Sept 1945 PM magazine picture of a jeep equipped with a tandem hitch.

I wonder how the spare wheel was attached to the side of the jeep.

The hitch on the second jeep looks taller than the other one. The first jeep appears to have the standard hitch that we normally see.

Or it could be a part of a wirecutter.

The front bumper of the second jeep looks different from the one with the tandem hitch as well.

The picture isn't all that clear but by my estimation that is an "original" bumper with an anti-decapitation device.

If you filter the photo useing adobi "photoshop" You will find that the second jeep does not have a hitch. It is a wire cutter

Danno is correct. In the original photo you can easier see it is a wire cutter on the 2nd jeep. Both jeeps are following an Easy 8 Sherman tank and photo was taken in an European village.

Ain't that just another way of saying anti-decapitation device? Neat picture, I de-magazined it and go ride of the dots that made up the original picture. Love these old pictures.
