Plug wires

Postby Herb Tate » Mon Mar 01, 2004 5:34 am

I am trying to omit all possible causes of my engine putting. At this time I have repro plug wures that look like the originals. I would like to get some aftermarket plug wires that will supress EMI so my radios don't get ignition noise. The good thing is that I have the shielding for the 12V upgrade so the wires won't be seen.
What aftermarket wires do do you think would work best for this application. Also they will probably be left on. I keep getting shocked when I try to adjust my ignition. Leaky wires are a pain.

I wonder if that "putting" noise you hear is because of the valves. Could be they just need adjusting. And then, again, we have I believe had folks tell us here that that noise is normal in a jeep.

I use the "original" wiring that is available from Ron. Works fine. As far as shielding the radio? I bought one of those huge capacitors that goes in line before the radio and that seemed to do the trick for me. But at present I am using 12 volts, electronic ignition and an alternator. Oh, the sin of it all.

I think your right. I just didn't really want to mess with the valves. Sounds like I will just have to give it a shot.
