Appropriation of another units Jeep seems to be a common thing. Unfortunately it continues today and a Jeep can be removed far too easilly. I like the eyebolt ring and not surprised it was on an Aussie Jeep as they tend to either be resourceful or nick anything thats not nailed down! I can say that as I have Aussie relatives from way back!

Eye bolt in dash is for locking the gear lever in reverse with padlock.
Cannot remove trans top cover when in gear, needs to be in neutral.

I also have a steering column with the chain link welded for steering locking.

This is what I came up with...replace outer tie rod clamp bolt with a brake master cylinder push rod eye bolt ...slightly file out hole in clamp ...wind nut on to eye bolt and fit through clamp horizontally ..fit nut and tighten add another nut to 'lock' using lock tight ...now put steering on a lock so eye bolt is close to front road Spring and place suitable chain around spring and padlock through eye bolt ...steering locked on a lock!

G`day all. My uncle lost his stripes in Vietnam when he used a land rover with out signing for it, to go across to the Yanks side of the base to get some Chopper parts,[ 1st Av ] My old body on my GPW had the hole but the eye bolt was not there. haven`t put in the new body yet. I have a BIG blue cattle dog that thinks the Jeep is his. no one gets near the Jeep with out a lot of noise & teeth. Darren

I had a friend of mine make this for me, Locked in reverse gear.

I guess if some one wants to take your jeep they will, but it may slow them down a bit.

This is the security system that came on my MB, which I chose to keep rather than remove and repair.
