Re: Adding PICs easily
The way I do it, is using Blackdog's picture hosting site (he is a member of the Gee).
Go here : http://www.surfacezero.com/g503/?cfbbf920" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
join / load your pictures there / copy the link / past link here / take the check mark out of the "Disable BBCode" box (right below in the options area)/ done
(you can hit preview button below to see if you have done everything correctly before you hit the submit button)
If you want full size picture posted, back out one of the back slashes and thumbs:

Re: Adding PICs easily
Kent, thanks for this. I have opened an account. Can you advise how I copy the pics over. Do I highlight and drag them or must I enter the URL? All of my pics are high res as well. Is there some way for me to reduce the size before posting?
thanks,
John

John,
On the surface zero G503 Album site:
you have to be logged in
go to upload photos
drop down to up load photos and click on "BROWSE"
you should be able to go anywhere on your computer to get photos
you have to put a title and subject to the picture
then hit upload, you should be home free

Re: Adding PICs easily
Hi John,
Kent is giving some great advice!
Just bear in mind, that if you have high resolution pics, it might be slow to upload them onto the surfacezero website- i have noticed this when i have tried to put some big files up.
If you have Adobe Photoshop (i have adobe photoshop CS2), there is a function called 'Image Processor' in the menu: File>Scripts>Image Procesor to change the resolution of the image, thus making it easier to upload and email too.
The easiest way to put your picture in your threads is to do as kent says and copy the link/URL address and paste it in your message.
eg:
1. To get this photo of my gpw on surface zero so all can see it in a thread, i just copied the link out of the address bar and pasted it here.
http://www.surfacezero.com/g503/showpho ... hoto=60525" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
2. You can also just have the photo with out the surfacezero page around it- to do this, right click on the picture, click 'properties' then copy the 'address (URL)'.
http://www.surfacezero.com/g503/data/17 ... y_08_2.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
3. To get the picture in the thread:
do the same as step 2 (you must copy address from properties for this to work), then press the Img button above where you type your message (its in the row of the bold, underline, quote buttons etc). The following should appear:
Paste the copied address in between and it should appear like this:
The same principles apply to getting photo's from any website (as far as i know), so you can take a pic off ebay for example and paste it in a thread if you need to discuss it- though it will dissappear not long after as ebay will delete it from their server once the auction finishes. To overcome this, save it to your comp and upload it onto surface zero!
I hope this helps. If you have any questions, just give me a call.
Ian.

Re: Adding PICs easily
Ian, you forgot to tell him the importance of making sure you get the "medium" size photo to display on the post.
When you look at your album it usually list two sizes of files, the smaller one is the "medium" size photo. choose that one or your photo may be too big and get cropped in your posting.

Re: Adding PICs easily
Jon,
i just thought I'd let you know that the 'Upload attachment' has limits.
I tried the 'Upload Attachment' thing, and at first, was pleasantly surprised, as it was so easy.
Then I discovered that you are limited to uploading three pix per post. 'No worries', I said, 'Three pix per post is enough for anyone'.
But after uploading three pix for about four posts, I was told by the system that my upload limit had been reached, and I can no longer upload any more.
So now I use Photobucket to upload as many as I want, ad infinitum.
