Images being cut off/truncated

Postby Larry E Long » Sat May 02, 2009 1:07 pm

Images are being cut off. Here's a sample:

http://www.g503.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=80368&p=815314#p815314

Is there a reason why the columns are reversed from the way all other forums, including the previous version of the Gee, display them? Is that why images are being truncated? Why no scroll bars like before?

No, and I don't think anyone cares either or it would have been solved or explained by now.

I'm going to ask this same question on a new post soon but will add to this question. Why are photos cut off on the right side? I suppose it has to do with file size/pixels/dpi being large but in a perfect world the file size wouldn't matter on a forum. The image should never be larger than anyone's viewing area. Ron IS perfect, isn't he?

In any case, is there a max file/pixel size that needs to be used here? Or is there some issue with the photo sharing websites? I use Photobucket and my 5 MP images are apparently too big.

Doesn't seem to matter with some pics they are just cropped....I posted one with a number plate on it & no matter what I do I can't see the number plate but JR must be able to see it as he made reference to same?

Go to your User Profile, change the settings to " g503left " and your signature, and what you view should show up on the left side, allowing scroll bars to work if your resolution is not high enough to view the whole thing.

I would have said all that John, but my settings are different as I have to use the Admin pages to alter my preferences, so didn't know what procedure you needed to do.... :D

Now everyone should be back on happy street.

We do listen here, but sometimes it takes awhile to sort things out. To get the settings back to the left as some wanted it, it meant uploading a new version of Phorum, reconfiguring, each board..and all the other "stuff "I don't understand..not a quick and easy task.

Thanks to Chris and Ken who did all the hard work

OK gave it a whirl & this introduced a couple of problems one was not being able to reply to posts & not being able to connect. I changed back & that problem disappeared, any suggestions?

The change over didn't effect me John. Try a re-boot......

If that fails, I'll go ask the gee Gurus Chris and Ken......

Thanks, will try it. But I have a problem with doing anything "left" except "dressing left." Image

switched back to g503Right
still no issues
I'm using a normal user account just in case my admin permissions hinder me from seeing your symptoms.

BTW g503Right hasn't changed except the name was changed from g503 to g503Right. its the same "style" its been for 2 years.
I just renamed it so it would be the compliment of g503Left.
